A dozen or so Protestors spent about an hour trying to bring down the heavy statue, with newscasters filming and hundreds of police on alert in the area. Woodson Museum executive director, Terri Lipsey-Scott contacted St. Petersburg City Council member, Lisa Wheeler-Bowman with the idea who in turn contacted Wayne Atherholt with the cityo¢s Cultural Affairs department who also liked the idea. Atherholt contact John Collins with the St Pete Artist Alliance which runs the Shine Mural project and got his team working to find artists willing to participate. 16 artists are responsible for painting 1 letter each of the phrase. Dry conditions, 105 degree heat and high winds have made fighting the fire difficult. The fire now threatens the community of Summerhaven, a populat tourist destination. Mt Lemmon typically has tempertures 15-20 degrees cooler in the suumer than Tucson anf features skiing in the winter at over 6,000 feet. A mandatory evacuation of all residents was announced and Mt Lemon is closed to all but local traffic. Over 700 firefighters are battling the blaze but high winds have grounded all helicopters and fixed wing tankers preventing them from dropping fire retardent chemicals from the air.
