  • £43,000 TEDDY BEAR Be thankful when your child demands they get the latest toy for Christmas, because as expensive as they are at least you won t be shelling out for the world s most expensive teddy bear. In celebration of their 125th anniversary the German-based company Steiff have put together a bear worth £43,000! The reason for the cost? Well, the fur is made of gold thread, whilst the mouth is made of solid gold. Furthermore the bears eyes are made up of sapphire and 20 tiny diamonds. The stuffed toys were gifted to London™s Battersea Dogs and Cats Home by their previous owner. They could raise in the region of £5,000 for the famous charity when they go under the hammer at Hansons Auctioneers™ Staffordshire saleroom on 1 March 2024. Hansons™ toy consultant Janet Rawnsley said: It™s an incredible collection of teddy bears of all shapes, sizes, colours and designs. They arrived in multiple cardboard boxes and it™s been a long but thoroughly enjoyable job to catalogue each one. The collection brims with vintage Steiffs made in the 1980s and 90s.
